Total bedrooms: 4. District of Bali: Ubud. Total Living Area: 3,350m2. Total Area of Grounds: 2,900m2

Villa Alamanda, situated ten minutes east of the cultural town of Ubud, is approached through the traditional Balinese woodcarvers’ village of Tengkulak. Perched high on a ridge above the Petanu River, with valley views, the graceful architecture of this thatched hideaway blends contemporary elegance with ethnic charm. Designed to harmonise with the environment and utilising local materials, this exclusive villa comfortably sleeps up to eight people in four stylish and spacious air-conditioned bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom.

Elegant teak furniture is complemented by clean lines, natural colours and local artwork. A sizeable, open-air lounge and dining terrace overhangs the jungle, creating a real feeling of space. Villa Alamanda presents tropical living at its best.

The property is built on the side of a hill; the living area and bedrooms are all on the same level with steps leading down into the garden. A large gate opens onto a paved parking area, where indigenous ‘serai’ stone walls portray a jigsaw of shapes. Timeworn statues of comical characters greet the guests as they step into the cool interior of the villa through a set of antique double doors. Inside, the hallway extends towards a T-shaped wooden terrace. Furnished with antiques, this breezy open-air living area runs the length of the house and boasts a delightful dining section that just out over the tranquil gardens as they tumble into the steep ravine.

The garden and pool area provide the perfect spot for relaxation. The garden is equipped with a large bale with plenty of space to stretch out and enjoy the afternoons in luxurious style. The garden area is large enough for children play or for you to entertain friends
Villa Alamanda is located in Ubud.

An hour and fifteen minutes’ drive from Ngurah Rai international airport, Ubud is Bali’s centre for fine arts, dance and music; while the surrounding villages are home to Bali’s most accomplished painters, dancers, musicians and carvers. This remarkable town is encompassed by magnificent terraced rice fields, rivers, traditional villages, art and craft communities, ancient temples and palaces. It is located 300 metres above sea level in the foothills of the central mountain range; this gives it a fresher, more pleasant climate than the southern coastal regions.

The numerous art galleries in Ubud feature traditional and modern work; the museums showcase the island’s rich history, and the shops and the market stalls sell handicrafts, jewellery, woodcarvings, textiles, paintings and antiques. There are many, well-presented, cultural performances staged in the town, in particular the Hindu epic, the Ramayana; also the Kecak dance, the fire dance, the monkey dance and the Legong dance. The countryside around Ubud is particularly beautiful, with an abundance of trails offering memorable walks through the peaceful rice fields.

The location is convenient for tours all over the island and is only a forty-minute drive from the coast.

Accommodations

Each of the four bedrooms features red-hued hardwood floors, double sliding glass and louvre doors that open onto the terrace, en-suite bathrooms, fitted wardrobes and safety deposit boxes.

The ‘Master Bedroom’ is furnished in a contemporary style, enhanced by a bell jar ceiling lantern, Indonesian artefacts and paintings by local artists. Louvre doors lead into a dressing room, fitted with a chunky marble washbasin and teak cabinets and adjacent to the bathroom, with its marble bathtub and shower. The glassless windows in the bathroom allow the cool breezes to permeate, and provide lovely views of the main garden area and swimming pool bordering the river valley.

The ‘Red Room’ is characterised by red accessories such as the lamps and paintings; and the ‘Cinnamon Room’ by the spicy-scented cinnamon stick arrangement in the vase above the bed. Both of these bedrooms feature a private garden bathroom with a marble bathtub surrounded by walls and leafy shrubs.

A separate thatched pavilion houses the ‘Garden Suite’, a cosy bedroom that also doubles as air-conditioned lounge containing shelves of DVDs and books. The Garden Suite features an en-suite garden bathroom with a canopied bathtub.

A fully-equipped kitchen is behind the Garden Suite and is accessible from the car-parking area. There is so much attention to detail; even the water tower is decorated with fanciful carved flowers, dragonflies and birds.

An arched gateway with rustic Balinese doors marks the entrance to the beautiful garden, accessed by a dramatic flight of seventeen stone steps leading down from the car-park level. The garden is shaded by verdant jungle foliage and filled with an abundance of brightly coloured, sweet-scented tropical flowers and plants. A gnarled frangipani tree overhangs the enticing swimming pool; the water appears to cascade over the curved infinity edge into the backdrop of banana plants, bamboo, and towering coconut palms. A large relaxation gazebo, known as a ‘Bale Bengong’, is situated next to the pool and offers the comfort of cushioned daybeds. Sunloungers are positioned on the white Palimanan stone patio; hand-carved paras stone statues and garden lamps create a romantic ambience. The constant sound of the fast flowing Petanu River, as it carves its way through the steep gorge below, is accompanied by the melody of birdsong and cicadas.

Villa Alamanda is an ideal choice for those looking for modern luxury in peaceful surroundings; an enchanting retreat where guests can enjoy a relaxing experience with personalised service

Villa M Description

A luxurious Bali Villa in the heart of rice fields. Whether you are a honeymoon couple or a family, this holiday villa in Bali offers the chance of an intimate and unforgettable stay on the Island of the Gods. It more than satisfies all the prerequisites for a blissful, luxury villa holiday, presenting peace and tranquility, total privacy, shady corners to relax and exemplary service in a beautiful rural setting, only 10 minutes away from Berawa beach on Bali ’s southwest coast and from Seminyak.

Offering guests a choice of renting options, this 5-bedroom retreat covers 2,000 square meters of land and is comprised of two self-contained Bali villas, each with a private entrance and a private pool. The 1-bedroom villa and the 4-bedroom villa can either be linked or remain totally separate and private. Designed by Balinese architect Putu Edy Semara, the style blends modern Balinese architecture with minimalist design.

One Bedroom Villa

Villa M - One Bedroom VillaThis private honeymoon villa in Bali, complete with living and dining room and private swimming pool is an idyllic retreat for couples. Here, guests can be pampered with a massage, take a dip in the pool, or savour cocktails in the poolside gazebo as the sun sets, before being indulged with one of the romantic candlelit dinners for which Bali Villa M has become so famous.

Bedroom

The ground level air-conditioned bedroom offers direct access to the pool, and is characterized by a timber floor, dark wooden furnishings and a king size, canopied bed under a soaring roof. There is a flat screen, LCD satellite TV mounted on the wall, complete with DVD player and quality sound system. Three floor-to-ceiling glass doors open out into the garden. There is a dressing area behind the bed, two huge wall mirrors, built in wardrobes and a dressing table.

    Bathroom

The adjoining bathroom is light and airy with a polished concrete floor and a large porthole window overlooking the pool. The bathroom is fitted with top quality Kohler sanitary ware, including a terrazzo bathtub, twin washbasins, a toilet and an award-winning ‘Rain Forest’ shower positioned within a clear glass cubicle. With the pool on one side and a small walled garden on the other, guests have the option of opening all of the glass doors to create an open-air experience, and the clever design allows guests to step directly from the bathroom into the swimming pool.

    Sitting & Dining

The sitting and dining room is a single storey, air-conditioned building with a high roof. It is elegantly furnished with a solid wood circular dining table for four, a comfortable sofa, ottomans and a coffee table, and equipped with a satellite TV, DVD player and quality sound system. Colourful artwork adorns the fresh white walls, and the provision of three sliding glass doors ensures that guests can fully appreciate the captivating view and the cool breezes. The well-equipped open plan kitchen is incorporated at the far end, featuring cream terrazzo worktops, a serving area, and dark wood units.

    Pool & Garden

The large, cobalt blue tiled, infinity edge swimming pool measures 4 x 12 metres, and is perfect for swimming laps. It is flanked by a timber deck, which is furnished with sunloungers. A raised and cushioned ‘bale’ relaxation pavilion at one end is a great spot for chilling out. The garden is bordered by a glass wall designed to maximise the rice field view and highlight the awareness of being positioned directly in the middle of such a gorgeous rural area.

Blessed with a generous landscape that extends down to a river embankment amidst the fertile rice terraces of Umalas, Villa Karishma is a stunning property that embodies the concept of tropical living. It has been designed as a stylish retreat for discerning travellers to slow down and escape the pressures of a metropolitan lifestyle. Whether guests choose to soak up the sun by the private pool, become immersed in a good book while relaxing in the riverside lounging pavilion or entertain friends over drinks at the bar; days spent at Villa Karishma truly celebrate quality time out.

An unimposing entrance gate opens up to reveal a spacious garden environment with a waterway running the entire length. Towering palms and indigenous flora have been planted randomly and are surrounded by manicured lawn. The main body of the villa envelopes this area and consists of several bedrooms with glass panelled doors that slide wide open when desired.

Discreetly hidden within the kitchen is a CCTV monitor that gives guests peace of mind that the villa is fully secured at all times.

A bar has been created out of white blocks of paras Jogja and topped with black stone to serve pre-dinner cocktails or cater for social gatherings. A solid wood dining table, surrounded by an eclectic array of mismatched chairs, gives the setting a unique edge. The far end of this open-plan space is reserved as a sitting area with cushioned sofas and armchairs arranged around a low rise coffee table.

Riverside Ambience

Description

This beautiful, very spacious villa on the edge of Sebali, a pretty village just outside Ubud, is a luxurious haven from which to enjoy both the peace and the delights of Bali. The views from the house are of typical rice terraces and, in the distance, spectacular Mt Agung and the dramatic mountains towards the north of the island. We have been careful to be environmentally sensitive - green - with many eco-features including solar power and water heating, and a beautiful garden with organically grown fruit trees.

Villa Sebali is just about 10 minutes drive from the centre of Ubud, the cultural and artistic heart of Bali. All on good roads, half the drive is through typical villages, beautiful rice fields and tropical forest, and half past interesting art galleries, antique and craft shops, and restaurants. Ubud is about one and a quarter hours drive from the airport.

The house is built round three sides of a grassy, flower-ringed courtyard, with the fourth side an infinity pool looking down over a cascade of lotus and water-lily ponds to the orchard. It has four very special bedroom suites and combines the luxury of air-conditioned bedrooms with the delight of open air living.

There is a fully equipped kitchen, a library/games room and a table tennis room.

We have included many environmentally-friendly features, from the thick, alang-alang roofs which provide wonderful insulation, to solar powered water heating and electricity systems, and natural waste water treatment.

The garden is lavishly planted with many sweet-smelling trees and flowers. Beside the pool is a pretty bale, a traditional grass-roofed pavilion for shaded relaxation, while below it a path winds through the lotus ponds down to the orchard with its wide range of tropical fruit trees. As these mature, guests will be able to pick their own choice of fruits.

The villa is managed locally by the incomparable Rita Dewi and has four full time staff, two in the house and two gardeners/security. Our house staff will prepare your breakfasts, maintain the house and rooms immaculately, and be on hand to aid and advise you.

There are many things to do and see artistic, sporting, cultural, spiritual and purely self-indulgent - within easy reach.
But also, green, quiet, fragrant Villa Sebali is a wonderful place just to be.

The house is approached by a tree fern-shaded path leading from the front courtyard with space for three or four cars, to a bridge over a lotus pool and into the main building.

Dining area:
Spacious and equipped for up to 12 at table. It is open to the garden at one side and has two steps down to the living area.
At the side is the Kitchen: fully equipped with large fridge-freezer and permanent chilled drinking water.

Living area:
An enormous room open to the garden with ample seating and many art works.

All the above areas have rich terra-cotta coloured floor tiles, a lovely combination of warmth for the eye and coolness for the room.

Guest cloakroom :
Stairs lead from the living area to Sky bedroom suite: vast, with a fantastic cathedral ceiling and flower-edged terraces facing all four points of the compass with views to die for! A large dressing area leads to the bathroom which is partly open air with wash basin, WC, bath, separate shower and a small garden. One of its four terraces is covered and has seating for relaxing and admiring the garden and view.

From the living area a lobby leads to the south wing with Forest bedroom suite:
Equipped with twin beds which can also be joined to make one king size bed. The dressing area leads to the shower room with wash basin and separate WC. A door leads through to the

Library:
An enchanting rotunda which can also be reached directly by steps from the garden. Equipped with flat screen TV, books, games and comfortable seating, this room can either be used as a sitting room for the Forest Bedroom, or as a communal room for all guests.

Again from the living area, a short path leads over the lotus pool to the independent Sunset bedroom suite: This is another generous room with cathedral ceiling and a queen sized bed. The spacious dressing area leads through to the bathroom with basin, WC, shower and garden. It has its own pretty patio.

Across the courtyard and opposite the library is another independent building, Sunrise bedroom suite: As the name suggests, this huge room with its magnificent ceiling and king size bed faces east, towards Mt Agung, and has double doors opening onto a raised deck shaded by a flower-festooned pergola. Steps lead down to the pool and courtyard. There is a big dressing area leading through to the biggest bathroom of all which, again, is partly open to the sky and has its own garden. It is equipped with bath, basin, shower and separate WC.

All the bedrooms have mosquito nets and full air-conditioning, though the house is designed to optimise cooling: all the rooms are shaded by the deep eaves of the alang-alang roofs, and big windows allow refreshing air to flow through freely. There are ceiling fans in all rooms including the living areas.

Additional beds can be supplied, and there is also a very large comfortable daybed in the living area which would make an excellent extra bed. Guests who like the idea of sleeping under the stars could even sleep on the bale!

The Basement is reached by steps from the garden and is a very large room with table tennis table and space to store extra furniture, suitcases etc.

Staff accommodation is situated under the front garden, cleverly cooled by its grass roof. It has its own entrance from the front courtyard car parking area.

The villa is built on almost 3000sq.m. (3/4 acre) so the gardens are generous and have been beautifully planted by a top professional and are maintained on organic principles.

Beyond the courtyard and pool, a series of voluptuous ponds echoing the neighboring rice fields and planted with lotus and water lilies cascades down to the orchard, and pretty paths wind between them. The orchard is planted with, among other fruits: avocados, pineapples, mangoes, papayas, bananas, jack fruit, durian, nutmeg, lemons and limes. There is also a herb garden for keen cooks.

The infinity swimming pool is 12m. x 4m. plus a side sitting area. For relaxing there are garden reclining chairs and big sunshades as well as the pretty bale. There is a built-in barbeque adjacent to the bale for all fresco cooking and dining.

Services

Staff:
Villa Sebali’s local manager is Rita Dewi, a famous Balinese dancer. She has excellent English and can help with any problems and special requests. She will be sure to come to the villa to meet you and ensure that all is well.
Our senior house staff person is Made (pronounced Made ) a well educated young man who also has very good English. As well as having considerable hotel experience, Made has run a tour company for individual travelers in Bali so can help with suggestions and plans for things to see and do.
His assistant is Ayu, a delightful young woman who also has some English. If your party is very large, we can employ extra staff from the village.

Catering
Breakfasts (eggs, toasts, fresh fruit and juices, tea and coffee) are included in the rental and can be served in the dining room or in your room.
Lunch and dinner are not included, but we can arrange for a cook to come in, or advise on restaurants which can deliver, at your cost. And there are dozens ‘maybe hundreds’ of cafes and restaurants within a 20 minute drive of Villa Sebali, from the very modest to top level.
Alternatively, you may use the fully equipped kitchen (hob, oven, microwave) and the barbeque to cook for yourselves (the staff may well be willing to help out too). There is an excellent supermarket just 10 minutes away which has a huge range of foods, both European and Asian, and an organic section. For the adventurous, the market in Ubud provides all manner of local produce.
There is also an excellent health food shop and cafe in Ubud, just off the main street (Jalan Raya), called Bali Buddha.

Nestled amidst lush, verdant plantation, surrounded by panoramic views of rice fields and secluded by coconut trees, the Villa KANTI experience immerses you in a soothing world of relaxation and tranquility that will revive and refresh your spirit as you enjoy the mystique of this spiritual land. Far from the bustle of daily Balinese life, Villa KANTI is situated on the edge of a quiet and small traditional Balinese village, located 10 minutes drive south from the center of Ubud.

From that first moment of entering the Villa KANTI and for the entire duration of your stay, you will be welcomed by the sound of water rippling down the cascades to the bottom of the plantation. Savor this view overlooking the garden from the highest point of the property - it is both magical and unforgettable.

Stroll through the gardens paved with special stepping stones, where water greets you everywhere - tropical ponds with delicate lotus and water lilies, reflecting ponds mirroring coconut and frangipani trees, and still water ponds nurturing goldfish and dragonfish and creating a natural environment for the local flora and fauna. Tropical flowers, shrubs and trees are swept in by the refreshing breeze where you will find a virtual celebration of nature and life. KANTI is the “Sanskrit” word for “light” and the residence is bathed in natural light while protecting the privacy of our residents.

Built in perfect harmony with traditional Balinese architecture and integrating the most contemporary concept of outdoor living, Villa KANTI offers to fulfill the most discerning traveler’s dreams of luxury existence in a tropical country.

Villa KANTI provides a well-balanced blend of air-conditioned comfort and tropical open-air living. With pavilions established on 3200 sq meters of land, it comfortably accommodates up to ten guests who would still be able to lose sight of each other within the boundaries of privacy that the pavilions offer. The focal point of the property is the open-air living and dining pavilion, which drops down onto the 20 x 4 meters lap swimming pool filled with salt-treated water. This infinity pool is complemented by a “Hammam” (steam room) and Jacuzzi just beside it. At the lowest reaches of this abode, overlooking more rice fields, a meditation Bale located over a quietly gurgling stream that marks the edge of the property will wait for you for a few moments of seclusion, meditation, relaxation or for a massage session.

For those moments where you might like to remind yourself of “civilization”, there is a fully air-conditioned Media & Entertainment room with a spectacularly large screen 67 inch satellite TV, home theater with an extensive DVD collection of international movies and music. On the mezzanine level above the open-air living and dining pavilion, a desk provides a PC with internet connection and a printer for your convenience.

All corners of the villa are decorated with a plethora of antiques, crafts and artifacts from the Indonesian islands : Java, Borneo, Sulawesi, Lombok, Sumba, the Moluccas, Irian Jaya and Bali itself. These decorative and contemplative pieces, which have been collected over the years by the villa’s owners, who themselves live in the property when it is unoccupied, further enrich the discreetly cultural yet meditative atmosphere of the house.

During your stay, you will be serviced by ten staff who will offer you the highest level of personal service while providing absolute discretion and privacy. They will be at your service to ensure your stay is one of total relaxation and comfort.

ACCOMMODATION

The Pavilions

Villa KANTI sleeps a total of 10 guests in 5 spacious suites located in three of the pavilions. The main pavilion, the Living and Dining Pavilion is connected to the kitchen on the side of the property by a soaring “alang alang” (thatched) roof and carefully landscaped terrazzo and walkways from special stepping stones (pebble washed) to the three suite pavilions at the Master Pavilion, the Temple Pavilion and the Richfield Pavilion. Each pavilion offers panoramic views to the verdant rice fields beyond.

The Master Pavilion
This is a two-storey pavilion located at the top-end of the property and contains a bedroom suite on each floor, identical in size.

The spacious ground floor bedroom has a creamy terrazzo floor and is decorated with Antique Chinese pottery from Sumatra Island and artifacts from Bali. The king-sized bed is canopied with a white mosquito net; a long writing table and a comfortable [reclining] sofa face a private garden; and heavy purple curtains with blackout lining provide complete darkness. The remote controlled air-conditioning can be individually adjusted to suit your own requirements. The outdoor ensuite bathroom, with a soaking bathtub built from green stone, huge rain-head shower and tropical plant-filled garden allows you complete privacy in the open area. An antique Balinese door provides access from the bathroom to the private garden.

The upper floor bedroom was specially designed to enjoy the surrounding natural environment in its entirety.
